The Divorced Dad’s Guide to Christmas was created by me — a grateful mom and ex-wife.
At Christmas time, my husband was always the one hauling in the tree, stringing the outdoor lights, making the Costco run, and picking up guests from the airport.
But like in many families, it was usually the mom who handled the details — the cozy touches that made the house feel festive, the planning of meals, activities, and gifts — all while keeping the schedule humming and the holiday music playing.
After our divorce, it was “Dad’s year” for the holidays. My kids mentioned, “It just doesn’t feel Christmasy at Dad’s.” I immediately knew it was because of the "little things" (the non-practical things) and not for lack of their dad trying. That’s when I realized a quick, easy-to-use guide could help divorced dads create something uniquely festive for their home — without the stress or guesswork.
